Now that the presidential election, a major event in Kenya, is over
The city of Nairobi is regaining its former serenity.
This time, we would like to talk about the Japanese food fair event held at the Artcaffe market operated by the popular cafe chain Artcaffe!
Actually, ChiQ is a wholesaler of Japanese foods to Artcaffe market as a supplier of Japanese foods.
One day, the manager of Artcaffe asked us if we would like to hold a Japanese food fair.
YES! I immediately said
For the next few weeks, we thought about the details of the event, prepared, and held the event in about 2 weeks on Friday and Saturday, Sunday ！！！！
The concept of the event was “to let people know the taste of Japan and to raise awareness of Japanese food products.
We will borrow a corner of a delicatessen section of a fashionable supermarket and serve Japanese food.
The menu changes daily and includes curry, sushi, fried food, teriyaki chicken, fried rice, etc.
You can sample the food, and if you like it, take it out!
Or you can buy the ingredients and cook them at home!
We’ve even created a recipe card for that!
We had all Artcaffe staff wear happi coats, and we were ready to go!
Despite some problems with all the ChiQ staff being late on the day of the event, the event was a huge success, with many people coming to the event every day!
Many of those who ate Japanese food for the first time purchased Japanese foodstuffs.
The lecture on how to make sushi rolls was especially popular,
The smiles on the faces of the customers who enjoyed the sushi rolls made on the spot were impressive.
It is a great honor for me as a Japanese to have this opportunity to promote Japanese food to strangers in a land so far away from the Japanese mainland.
I am grateful for the chance and hope to be able to entertain many people through Japanese food and culture.
I will continue to work hard and enjoy working with you Kenyans!
